Happy Thanksgiving

In case you missed the sunrise,
I got you.

Spoonbread!
And now that I have eaten my usual tiny portions-
and without hope of visitors within the week to help-
the marathon begins. I only cooked a tiny piece of fish and a single serving of spinach,
so that leaves the spoonbread, green bean casserole, and sweet potato souffle
-I didn't feel like bothering with crusts so it is actually just naked filling in a fancy dish-
to be finished before the mold begins.
Serious undertaking people.
Serious.

Orchids

I have two new orchids to fuss over- gifts from my Dad for my birthday and (early) Christmas. It is not very often I am someplace you can find anything but Phalaenopsis, so it was fun to see so many kinds in person.

Besides being gorgeous, both have lovely fragrances that are filling the main room of the house, which is lovely.
Hybrid Cattleya

Oncidium Pacific Sunrise 'Hakalau'-
each flower stalk has different bloom color pairs,
although apparently none of the pictures has the maroon and pink ones,
and now it is dark so can't get any more today.

Sunny November Day

Nearly intact sunflower head-
unusual that the birds do not get about half.

Yarrow just keeps growing, big fellow that he already is.

November Pollinator Frenzy

Calendula is very popular with beneficial wasps and flies.....

Marigolds are popular with everyone-
if you click on this picture you can really see the variety-

It Was a Nice Day Yesterday

And today rainy and cold.

Another Window Walking stick, single this time,
and not too large;
she has been there for several days.

Serious Fall

Despite the weary start, there is really intense color this year, such that you hardly even notice  how much has already dropped. I am amused by the Oaks that circle the house, as each has turned a starkly different shade- from East around bright red, deep orange, deep red, darkest maroon, I-refuse-to-change-at-all-green-rocks, and nearly yellow. Very intense. You can understand why I am in love with them.
