Iris

But first, my favorite Pussy Toes;
I can see this patch from the table as I eat breakfast,
and for whatever reason, I love these fellows.

Shady native Dwarf Iris

Of the hillside I planted full of various iris from family and friends,
three are blooming this year, which is two more than last year!
It is their fourth spring, but I put them in in tiny root pieces, so will take time.
Two are dark purple and one is a paler voilet.

Happy Easter!

The trees are really getting colorful now
-the woods circling the house are a ring of pink from the Red Buds-
but it has been cloudy past couple of days, not great for pictures.
Particularly not if I am taking them.

These are from earlier this week.

My best attempt at a mobile carpenter bee.
He left.
So this is the only attempt.
His shadow is quite nice, though.

Serious Fall

Despite the weary start, there is really intense color this year, such that you hardly even notice  how much has already dropped. I am amused by the Oaks that circle the house, as each has turned a starkly different shade- from East around bright red, deep orange, deep red, darkest maroon, I-refuse-to-change-at-all-green-rocks, and nearly yellow. Very intense. You can understand why I am in love with them.
